Liability and copyright

I prepare the content of this website with care, but cannot guarantee that it is complete, correct or permanently up to date. External websites are the responsibility of their respective operators. If I become aware of unlawful content or links, I will remove them promptly.

Privacy policy

Controller

The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Tobias Holzhäuser at the postal and email addresses shown in the imprint above.

Server access logs

When you request a page or file, the hosting system records technical access data. This includes the IP address, date and time, requested address, referrer where supplied, browser and operating-system information, HTTP status and transferred data volume.

The logs are used to operate and secure the website, investigate faults and attacks, and produce aggregate traffic statistics. Processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interests are the secure and reliable operation of the website and an understanding of which pages and downloads are used. The hosting provider, Host Europe GmbH, processes this data as a service provider. The logs are automatically rotated. The current configuration retains the active log and up to three rotated archives, normally covering about ten days; the exact period may be shorter depending on traffic.

Email contact

If you contact me by email, I process your address, message and the associated technical metadata in order to answer you. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where the message concerns a contract or pre-contractual request, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries). Messages are deleted when the enquiry has been resolved unless statutory retention obligations apply.

Cookies, analytics and local trainer progress

This website does not set cookies and does not use Piwik, Matomo, Google Analytics or any other client-side analytics or advertising system. The vocabulary trainer can save your learning progress and settings in your browser's local storage. This information stays on your device and is not sent to this website. Storage is necessary to provide the trainer function you request (Section 25(2)(2) TDDDG). You can remove it through your browser's website-data settings.

YouTube videos and external links

YouTube content is not loaded when you open a page. A local placeholder is shown instead. Only when you deliberately activate a video does your browser connect to the privacy-enhanced YouTube player operated by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google then receives connection data such as your IP address and may store or read information on your device. Processing is based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) TDDDG. The consent applies to that activation; you can avoid the transfer by not activating the video. Google may process data outside the EU/EEA. See Google's privacy policy and the YouTube terms.

Ordinary external links likewise contact the named third party only after you follow the link. The third party's privacy terms then apply.

Your rights

Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, in particular the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Rhineland-Palatinate.

No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
